Bungendore is a short twenty minute drive from Queanbeyan and
is found on the south side of Lake George. Originally an inn town for travellers heading to Queanbeyan, the village has been modernised and offers great lodging and dining with the character of the 1830s.
Although the town of Bungendore is small it offers a handful of galleries that are well worth a stop, including the world famous Bungendore Wood Works Gallery, home to some of the country's finest wood artisans. Love beautiful hand made silver jewellery? you have to check out the X Gallery in Gibraltar Street, these are just two of many.
Sprinkled throughout the city are plenty of gifts shops that offer plants, garden art, home wares, and (of course) gifts, although if you have more time you can search out great produce for a picnic or limited edition books.
Food & Wine
When it comes to meal time the small village of Bungendore offers plenty of diversity with a fine array of fresh food markets, restaurants, and cafes along with a handful of great wineries such as Lark Hill and other local wineries such as, Lamberts and Lerida Estate.
